Is it possible to carry a caravan or truck on a DB Autozug train?
The maximum height of vehicles eligible for carriage on DB Autozug services is limited to between 2.05 m (Germany) and 1.63 m (France) in various countries. At the maximum height, however, the roof must not be more than 1.35 m wide. Vehicles must not be more than 5.30 m long and 2.05 m wide. These limits mean it is unfortunately impossible to carry caravans or trucks on DB Autozug trains.
How early should I get to the point of departure?
The loading times for motor cars and motorcycles are indicated on tickets. Please ensure that you are at the terminal by this time so loading can be effected speedily for all passengers and the train can depart on time. Should you arrive late, it is not unfortunately possible to guarantee that you can travel.
I would like to transport a BMW C1 roofed scooter 205 cm in height. Can I take this vehicle with me on DBAutozug trains?
The securing facilities are such that motorcycles can only be carried on the bottom deck, where the max. permissible height is 1.58 metres. Thus, it is unfortunately not possible to carry this type of vehicle on DB Autozug trains.
Can I travel on DB Autozug trains without taking a car or bike?
DB AutoZug GmbH operates domestic and international train services in which passengers are only carried with their motor cars (including with trailer) or motorcycles (including with sidecar). The vehicle’s driver is required to accompany the vehicle and to be able to present a valid driving licence.
You will find interesting offers for journeys without vehicles under www.nachtzugreise.de.
We would like to travel with DB Autozug in the summer. We will have a new car by then, however, for which a registration number has yet to be issued. How should I proceed? Can I book all the same? What do I do if I change vehicles?
Book in the normal way citing any vehicle dimensions known to you. If your new vehicle ends up being higher than thought, you will have to rebook. Carriage will then be dependent on suitable positions being available.
If the new car is the same size or smaller, no rebooking is required. The changes are then noted at the loading station during loading.
I can book two motor cars simultaneously online. But the two vehicles have differing heights. I can only enter one set of vehicle dimensions, however. How am I to proceed?
If the two vehicles are within the same ranges prescribed for dimensional particulars (e.g. 159-170 or 171-180) and all other vehicle particulars (e.g. roof luggage) coincide, then you can book the two online.
If the dimensional particulars or particulars regarding roof luggage on the two vehicles differ, then it is unfortunately not possible to book them online. Please book by phone in such an instance.
