Vintage cars/convertibles on DB Autozug
DB Autozug is best for that cherished vintage car
skip: DB Autozug is best for that cherished vintage carAntique cars are seldom suited to long pre-touring runs and carrying them on trailers is a costly business.
Many owners of classic cars already avail themselves of an appealing alternative - getting to their destinations within Germany or abroad safely and in one piece with DB Autozug. No wonder, considering that, as those on the train enjoy a relaxing journey to their dream destinations on smooth-running sleeper or couchette cars their vintage cars are being conveyed piggyback-style on a carrier wagon. No wear and tear, no congested roads, no sky-high petrol prices, no risk of accidents. When you get to where you’re going, the mileometer reading is the same as it was when you set out.

Summer and winter alike, DB Autozug runs a large number of attractive services within Germany, to France, Italy and Austria. Thus the finest touring regions in Europe such as the French Mediterranean coast, Provence or the Alps can be safely and conveniently reached. The favourable location of some destination terminals is most conducive to onward travel, e.g. from Lörrach into Switzerland or from Narbonne to Spain or Portugal.
What’s more: our fare campaigns can make travelling with DB Autozug cheaper than filling up. On certain days, for instance, vehicles are carried for an unbeatable 9 EUR. Accompanying passengers pay the set rate for couchette or sleeper accommodation.
Which vehicles are carried on DB Autozug services?
All vehicles licensed to run on public roads and not exceeding certain dimensions may be carried on DB Autozug services. The dimensional restrictions are detailed under “Vehicles” and “Vehicle dimensions” (cf. links in righthand column).
Should your vehicle be a borderline case as regards its dimensions or else you are unsure as to whether it meets the specifications, you are welcome to engage in “trial loading” at a DB Autozug terminal. Please call the DB Autozug hotline to arrange an appointment with the loading foreman.
The carriage of vehicles is conditional upon persons being carried at the same time. It is not possible to convey vehicles without an accompanying passenger journey.

Important note:
DB Autozug trains travel at speeds of up to 160 km/h. In the process, vehicles are exposed to motion-induced turbulence and may also be carried “backwards”. The bodywork on your vehicle needs, therefore, to be designed to withstand such speeds. In doubtful cases, protruding parts should be detached or appropriately secured.
