If you book single seats, no more than five paying passengers will be booked in the compartment. For children from six to fourteen years of age - or for children under six, who occupy their own seat when booking a single seat in a sleeperette or a couchette car -, half fare will be charged.

By day, the reclining berths convert into comfortable seats.

Groups of 4 persons upwards booking complete couchette cabins make considerable savings on what they would pay individually. No further concessions such as Accompanying Passenger reductions are granted.

Couchette car compartments have a temperature control device which can be used to lower the temperature inside the compartment in accordance with the outside temperate. The temperature adjustment begins to take effect shortly after the train departs and is most effective if the windows are kept closed.

At your service

The DB Autozug service team is there to attend to the needs of couchette car passengers. This begins with a friendly welcome on the platform when the journey begins. Please do not hesitate to ask the service staff if you have any questions or requests. Snacks and beverages can also be served in your compartment on request. Couchette car passengers will receive a breakfast snack which is already included in the fare. We also recommend a visit to our Bistro-Restaurant, which offers a wide range of food and beverages.

Mobility impaired passengers

Almost all trains run a couchette car with a wheelchair-accessible cabin and a toilet located directly adjacent. This cabin can be booked for a passenger and their companion for the price of a single berth. Coaches are generally designed to accept folding wheelchairs. Please call the DB Autozug service line to book accommodation and cabins of this sort.
